Inauguration of the Autism Service Center and Launch of the Comic "Autistic Children Able to Be Independent Everyday"

Great Hall, 2 April 2014

Still, in the series of commemoration of World Autism Day, MPATI, in collaboration with DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, inaugurated the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's first Autism Service Center. This service center aims to provide services to underprivileged families, including free diagnostics and training to parents regarding fundamental independence for autistic children, such as eating, drinking, chapters, tubs, and bathing. This Autism Service Center is prioritized for autistic children from low-income families so they can recognize the symptoms of Autism from the start. So that people with Autism can immediately get the right therapy and treatment.

With this program, it is hoped that underprivileged families with children with Autism or suspected Autism are willing to make a free diagnosis and attend training on handling autistic children at the Autism Service Center. Interested parents can send an sms to the number 081282452255. MPATI volunteers will record data and group them into the same training. Diagnostics will be conducted every first and third Wednesday of the week. In contrast, training will be held on the second and fourth Wednesdays.

Apart from the inauguration of the Autism Service Center, MPATI also launched Comic Series 2: Autistic Children Able to Be Independent every day. This comic continues the first comic for Autistic Children, Friends of All of Us. Series 2 of this comic focuses on the importance of fundamental independence for autistic children to be independent in everyday life. The Comic Launch Series 2 event was included in the activities to commemorate World Autism Day, which was attended by the Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Mr. Basuki Tjahaja Purnama. In his speech, the Deputy Governor stated that he strongly supports efforts to treat autistic children from an early age. It is hoped that all parties can help create an Autism-Friendly Jakarta.

The series of events began at 2:10 p.m. with the presentation of an Autism-Friendly Jakarta activity report by MPATI Chairman Gayatri Pamoedji. The event continued with the handover of certificates to volunteers from 30 selected Pioneers who had been trained in November 2013. To date, these selected Pioneers have conducted outreach about Autism to approximately 3,000 people in the broader community, including educators, therapists, parents, and many concerned with Autism. The certificate was handed over symbolically by DKI Deputy Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and continued with the Launch of Comic 2: Autistic Children Able to Be Independent daily. The launch was carried out symbolically by signing a comic placard by the Deputy Governor.
