What Problems Will Autistic Children Face According to Their Age?

Based on personal experience, it will be easier to divide autism problems according to the five years of child development. For example, when a child is under five years old, the main focus will be:

  1. Looking for an accurate diagnosis
  2. Finding information about autism
  3. Prepare mentally to be able to accept the fact that their son or daughter has autism (for parents)
  4. Finding information about necessary therapies
  5. Teaching obedience
  6. Observing children's needs, boundaries, abilities, and strengths
  7. Consider the GFCF (Gluten Free Casein Free) diet
  8. Measuring the family's ability in terms of time, effort, and cost in running an autism treatment program

Age 5 to 10 years, the main issues are:

  1. Independence
  2. Self-identity (change in physical, hormonal, et cetera)
  3. Social intercourse
  4. Sex education
  5. Higher academic demands

At the age of 15 to 20 years, parents of children with autism begin to be preoccupied with preparing for the future for their children, especially regarding children's independence in terms of physical, social, and livelihood (employment). Children begin to realize that they are different from their peers at this age. Social norms about what can and can't be done are also a vital issue, especially from the point of view of sex education.
